ICA

Last evening I went to the Boston Institute of Contemporary Art with colleagues. We saw the current exhibit Design Life Now. It shows examples of design in every aspect of our current lives, from up-and-coming airplanes, to prefab houses of the future, to apple's ipod line of products to fashion design to furtniture design to book cover design. The breadth of ground covered in the show is pretty amazing. Although they couldn't delve too deep into any one area, I don't think that's the point of the show - it's more of an overview. I really enjoyed the show, and the state-of-the-art newly designed ICA, which is right on the water. It's really lovely.

One of the highlights for me was the last interior area we visited - the gift store, of all places!! WOW what an inspiring store. Cool stuff - so many unique things that you would not even think exists, until seeing it here. But once seen, you are smitten!! Really great stuff. I will have to revisit the ICA and plan in extra time for shopping here, too.
