Illustration Friday: OBSESSED... with Ballet!
There is a ballet school/theatre in my neighborhood. Every day, I am surprised and delighted by the seriousness of these students heading to class. These little girls take their ballet very seriously. I love the dichotomy: ballet combines this mix of art and athleticism that stirs in them this fiery ambition—or basic instinct—to strive for absolute excellence! It's a testament to the power of positive thinking and clear, unfettered focus on a goal. I can see it in their eyes every time one of them rushes by on the street to get to class.
They inspired this art collection, and the name, too: Corps De Ballet. It's a name that respects the craft, the athleticism, the art and the importance of ballet to these students. But wait, it is not all serious! :) There is a real sense of humor and fun and silliness inherent in the group, as well. There is also a sophistication factor in the line, palette and texture. I am so happy to bring a fresh, new, elegant art option to this market. I know modern young girls and tweens will appreciate the alternative!

Brian, Di --Thank you!!! :D
wonderful Kathy! Our youngest daughter was "fired" from ballet because she, being a very free spirit, kept inventing her own moves... and talking too much *:) I love your illustration, the joy, the color and the free feeling I get just looking at it. I am now going to do a dance for you... see... did you like that ?
Wonderful illustration :)
Adorable Kathy! Love your character and the colors!
Thanks Psychopooch and Jack! :)
Ginger, wow about your daughter! I think it is fabulous that your daughter invented her own moves. Not only shows a creative free spirit but a real maverick, as well, not afraid to go against the tide. Good for her! (I loved your dance by the way!! :) )
very beautiful!
Some lovely illustration work to be found here!
