Sweet Ruby, Rest In Peace

Ruby was a big, huge, bright light in our lives.
Ruby and her sister Daisy were completely attached at the hip,
ever since we brought them home together at eight weeks old.

Daisy might have been the alpha, but Ruby was the brave one.

For a dog who was dealt some tough physical challenges in her life,
she was a very athletic, tough little pug.

She was also the sweetest, most loving, most huggy dog I've ever known.
In fact, I know she would have been thrilled if I wore her in a Baby Bjorn 24/7/365.

She was really our sweet little girl, a true innocent.

Words cannot express how deeply and how greatly we will miss her.

Rest in peace, little angel Ruby.

Thanks so much for all of your condolences. I wrote out a bit to tell you more.

Thanks so much to you all for your condolences and kind words. It means a LOT to us as we go through figuring out what our life is going to be like with Ruby gone. Being there for Ruby in her greatest time of need is a gift we will always treasure. I am so glad we were there for her like she has always been for us for ten years. Ruby died from a succession of seizures, due to a brain tumor we were not previously aware of. It's a great irony for us because Ruby dealt with health issues her whole life that we DID know about. In her early life she had very severe allergies which affected every part of her being. She was constantly on antibiotics for infections, and though she was always a trooper, she lived in a LOT of discomfort. After realizing this was not going to pass, we made the commitment to take a chance on a lifetime treatment option that would require a lot of discipline and a lot of specialized care. We did, and the results were phenomenal! After starting out life as a melancholy, often sad, always scratching and uncomfortable, nervous little sweet dog she had truly blossomed into a happy, joyful, very healthy, (still nervous) little sweet dog with stringent adherence to the program. (Through it all, here caregivers always commented on how sweet she was! She never complained.)  Ruby was a Gold Star student and her Dermatology team at Angell were always amazed at the progress she had made. It was incredible, and while she still had some minor allergy issues, they were nothing even close to what they were before treatment. I am so glad she was with us for the time she was. Our little girl did so good. We learned a lot from Ruby. We got the right dogs, and she got the right parents. We had a good life together.
